I am absolutely opposed to the importation and transport of LNG into
Oregon for the following reasons:
It's an imported fossil fuel that continues our dependence on foreign energy.
It's more expensive than domestic natural gas.
It has a 35+% larger carbon footprint and thus is not as clean as domestic natural gas.
It would undermine development of renewable energy in our state.
The transport into Oregon would be dangerous and would environmentally harm the Columbia and other estuaries.
The pipelines would be both dangerous and harmful to our environment, especially to water quality and salmonid fish habitat.
The pipelines would harm forest habitat and forest production and families that depend on them.
The pipelines would damage farms and vineyards, and violate property rights of forest, farm, and vineyard owners with inadequate
compensation, and would amount to the transfer of wealth from hardworking Oregon families to out-of-state energy speculators.
The pipelines would probably serve out-of-state entities in California or would be used for export of domestic gas.
We should not be exporting domestic gas.
